The Chinese customs office announced that trade between China and Iran exceeded $5 billion in January-April.
The latest statistics published by the Chinese customs office show that trade with Iran underwent a 4% increase in the first four months of the current year compared with the same period last year, to reach $5.23 billion
-- Raeisi promulgates Iran-EAEU free trade zone pact
Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi promulgated the document for extension of the interim agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
In his executive order to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, Raeisi promulgated the “Additional document (protocol) on the extension of the interim agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone between Iran and the EAEU and the member states,” which was ratified by Parliament on May 2, and approved by the Guardian Council on May 10.
-- Iran police vow revenge on terrorists that killed border guards
Iran’s deputy police chief expressed the force’s determination to avenge the killing of five border guards in a terrorist attack in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, which neighbors Pakistan.
Speaking at the border guards’ funeral ceremony in Sistan and Baluchestan’s provincial capital, Zahedan, Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei warned the deceived individuals who are following in the enemies’ footsteps that they “will definitely receive a decisive and firm response wherever it is necessary,”.

-- Tavanir: 7 GW Added to Power Capacity
Iran’s Energy Ministry says power generation capacity in the country has risen by 7 gigawatts (GW) since mid-2022 when Iran’s current administrative government took office.
The Ministry said that Iran had launched nearly 5.2 GW of new thermal power plants, including combined cycle systems which are more efficient than the normal gas fired power plants, since August 2021.
-- Iran Eyes Economic Growth of 8% in 5-Year Vision Plan
TEHRAN - Iran has set a target to reach an average economic growth rate of 8% between 2023 and 2028 as part of a new vision plan unveiled by the government.
“One of the main goals and fundamental priorities of the five-year Seventh Plan of Development is (to attain) progress accompanied by justice with an average economic growth rate of 8%,” said an analysis by the official IRNA news agency published on Sunday.
-- London Book Fair Selling Copy of First Qur’an Translation
LONDON (Dispatches) -- A first-edition copy of the oldest English translation of the Qur’an is to go on sale at a book fair in London. British rare bookseller H M Fletcher is selling the Qur’an, which was translated as The Alcoran of Mahomet in 1649 by Alexander Ross.
Ross was chaplain to King Charles I. He did not know Arabic and translated his version from a French translation by Andre du Ryer, published in 1647. The event is being run by Firsts at the Saatchi Gallery in London. The fair is hosting more than 100 international antiquarian dealers.

-- Book City to review Mary Ellen Waithe’s studies on women philosophers
American philosopher Ellen Waithe’s famous book “A History of Women Philosophers” will be reviewed at the Book City Institute in Tehran. A Persian translation of the book by Maryam Nasr Esfahani was published by Kargadan in Tehran in February.
Nasr Esfahani and philosophy scholars Mostafa Malekian and Seyyedeh Zahra Moballegh will attend the review, which will be held on Monday at 4 pm.

The value of trade between Iran and China reached $5.23 billion in the first four months of 2023, according to the data released by China’s customs administration.
Based on the released data, the four-month trade between the two countries increased by four percent as the figure was $5.02 billion in the first four months of 2022.
